Alexandra Knijnenburg, IBCLC

Alexandra Knijnenburg, IBCLC, is the Vita Nova Breastfeeding Centre’s lactation consultant. Since 1983 Alexandra has gained experience in assisting parents and their babies with breastfeeding as a volunteer with La Leche League and since 1993 she has been a qualified International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC). She was one of the very first lactation consultants in the Netherlands.

To work in the Netherlands as an officially registered International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC), you must have an IBCLC certificate. Through professional development and renewal of their registration every five years, lactation consultants keep their qualification and professional knowledge current.

The Dutch Association of Lactation Consultants (NVL)

In 1993 Alexandra was at the birth of the Dutch Association of Lactation Consultants (Nederlandse Vereniging van Lactatiekundigen – NVL). The Vita Nova Lactation Consultancy is therefore strongly connected to the NVL.

As a result of this, the lactation consultant at the Vita Nova Breastfeeding Centre conforms entirely to the NVL’s fundamental requirements. Thus, a breastfeeding query will always be responded to within 24 hours. If the lactation consultant is on holiday, a replacement will always be available and in addition to this, the NVL can always be approached for support.
